It was a big night for K-Pop Music sensation The Wonder Girls as they celebrated their first U.S. scripted movie debut, “The Wonder Girls Movie,” with a red carpet premiere held at the CGV Cinemas in Koreatown Los Angeles, CA this past Friday, January 20, 2012.
Joining The Wonder Girls included their arch rival in the film, The School Gyrls. Looking lovely and cute, the young ladies talked to Front Row Features/Pacific Rim Video correspondent Chris Trondsen on being the mean girls in the film, “It was really fun,” mentioned Monica Parales. Lauren Chavez added “It was more of a challenge for us as actresses because we play total opposites of what we are in real life.”
Away from the movie set and the arch rival personas, the two girl groups shopped around Southern California. The Wonder Girls especially loved The Grove in Los Angeles.
Co-creator of The Wonder Girls, JY Park never would have thought that he’d have a movie premiere with his group in the U.S. After the success of being the first Korean act to break into the Billboard Top 100 charts, it dawned on Park to create a film project for the Wonder Girls after watching “Rush Hour.” Stating that “The Wonder Girls Movie” is a teenage pop version of “Rush Hour,” JY Park laughingly said, “Thanks Jackie (Chan).”
As the red carpet arrivals slowly came to an end, music act Legaci showed up excited and nervous to meet the Wonder Girls. The Filipino-American male vocal group shouldn’t have been too nervous as they toured for two years with the current biggest pop star in the world, Justin Bieber. They have been big fans of the Wonder Girls.
With their current U.S. single out “The DJ is Mine,” The Wonder Girls next plan is to release a english language album this coming spring. If the ladies were to have an upcoming tour to support their new album, they would love to include Spain, Mexico, Australia and the Philippines as part of the stop.
Other celebs and talent who graced the carpet included Boo Boo Stewart, Colette Carr, Gracie Dzienny, Wes Aderhold and Nick Canon.
“The Wonder Girls Movie” airs on Teen Nick on February 2, 2012.
